As you may know, I have been excitedly getting ready for this reveal. In short, over 500 people from all over the world had a 1 day window to sign up to be part of this group. Under the direction of the wonderful Lori Anderson, we were paired with another designer and we then exchanged secret stashes of our own "bead soup" to our partner. Now we are revealing what we made from our soup.....
My soup was provided by Sonya Styles of Georgia. I call her soup... RASBERY SORBET! The colors are rich and range from pinks to purplish, reddish pinks. She hand made the closure, and the focal point, a flower rivili. I want to thank you for all the work you did in getting my soup together. It has been so much fun and you did provide me with challenges, and I love that!
The ingredients of my sorbet are fire agate, czech fire polished and glass beads. The tiny pink beads are dyed howelyte. Different sizes made for lots of different possibilities. I used just about everything in my soup. I do have one large fire agate bead left...I am planning on making a multi stranded summer necklace of bright colored beads, and this lone bead is going to be the focal bead of my necklace.
Also hand made by Sonya were two round, hand beaded elements that were beautiful but I was totally at a loss how to use them. I experimented with many things until the light bulb finally clicked. I hope you like how things turned out, and appreciate your comments good and bad...if you think I could have done something better, please be honest and tell me!
I can't wait to see what Sonya made with the stash I sent her. I didn't hand make any of her pieces but hope I provided her with enough to do several things. Funny, her beads were centered around pinks and teals....I did find some exclusive beads from a private shop that I fell in love with and blended with the others.
At this point I was going to introduce you to my partners blog. I jut got word from her that she has been sick and with 2 little boys, she just didn't get to work on her soup. Please lets all wish her a speedy recovery!
I have been going back and making sure I didn't miss anything, it is now 12:30 eastern time, and I am going to publish. Hope all goes well.............................
These are most of my pieces from my bead soup that I had to work with.
This is what I sent Sonya. I love teals and pinks and flowers and pretty girl things. Sonya and I have boys so these colors are just so girly.
I made the pink flowers for her, not to use for her jewelry but just to add to the girly feel of my beads! Oh, I can't wait to see her creations......please get well soon!
This shows me starting to work on my first piece, experimenting with different things. You don't see pictured the beautiful raspberry colored mesh ribbon....I tried so many different things with it and it puzzled me as to how to use it.
Before I reveal my creations, let me give you the address of all the blogs that you can visit. As the world will be viewing the blogs, you may want to start in the middle of the list and jump around a bit so we don't clog the blog log! Have fun with it, leave comments for all you visit, they worked really hard!
Cut and paste the link if it doesn't open for you
OR you can go to my next post
....List of Bead soup blogs .....all the blogs will be listed
My first piece is a memory wire bracelet. I actually have 2 bracelets in this collection.
The sorbet looks really good in the wine glasses!
I made charms for the both ends of the bracelet...it is going to be lots of fun to wear!
I was also able to create 2 different necklaces with my sorbet. This first one features the Rivloli hand made focal piece that Sonya made. I didn't want to compete with the center piece and experimented until I felt it was the best design. Also note the hand made toggle and closure...
Earrings are earring so these match this necklace
These little twinkles match my chain creation
I am very intrigued with creating pieces with chain, I actually am becoming obsessed with
chain........LOL if you wish
As you can see if have used the mesh ribbon
as part of my closure. I am excited that
all my experimenting paid off. And notice my
focal "charm"... it is the hand made item
that confused me as to what to do with it.
I actually used a piece of chain to go thru
the center and then attached it to the large ring.
I love how it turned out with charms, beads
and assorted chains.
This is my final piece. It is a bracelet. It has so many different elements in it...it just was a lets see what else we can do. I like the look of chunky bracelets, not all the time but to change things up. This one has chain, beading, wire wrapping and charms. You would think that with all the charms I have revealed, that I live a "charmed life"...maybe I do. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, a mix of kids (yours, mine and ours), my Dad...almost 85 and active and lots of friends that I have met through jewelry designing, paper crafting and my Interior Design business. I am grateful for all of them, and for you that view my blog. Thank you!
Looks like a snake, huh!
On this one I took the round beaded piece and actually used a Tim Holtz finding and have the bead as a dangle. I just repeated my other elements so this bracelet could go with either necklace. I took a bead cap and wire wrapped a bead to make it look like a flower, then did some more wire wrapping and I used this for the giant toggle to hook on to.
Thank you so much for following my reveal. I sure hope you enjoyed it and would love for you to visit on a regular basis. It would be my pleasure.
I just want to give a shout out to Lori Anderson, creator, hostess and author of the book BEAD SOUP. She has had so many health problems during these 4 months, and she always still tried to ne there for all 400 of us! Her husband Rick did a lot of leg work to keep this going, and Lori's friends answered e mails and facebook posts. This woman is an inspiration to all of us. She is strong and we wish her the best in her recovery and for all the hard work that went into this
This is a link to the pinterest page, I was having a problem linking my designs on it, but everyone else is there! Again, if it doesn't open, then cut and paste.
Thank you Lori,
With all my Love,
Sherri
